Edward Theodore "Ed" Gein (1906-1984) was born in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He was one of the fierce murderer and body snatcher in American history. Known as "The Plainfield Ghoul' or "The Mad Butcher". His crimes was committed around his hometown at Plainfield,Wisconsin he become infamous after the local government discovered Gein had stolen corpses from local graveyards and turn their body parts into trophies or memento. After that, police discover different body parts in his house in 1957. So he confessed for killing two women a tarven owner called Mary Hogan and a Plain hardware store owner, Bernice Worden. After that, he was found guilty of first-degree murder by Judge Robert H. Gollmar but because he was found to be legally insane so he was sent in a mental hospital and spent the rest of his life there. Also, his story has inspired a several creation of fictional serial killers such as Norman Bates from
Psycho.
Grin became mentally insane after his mother's death and it drag out the darkest side of him probably because he was raise under by his mother point of view of the world so for him everyone in this world are evil except his mum. After that he became interested in reading death culture magazines and adventure stories I think it gave me the idea of becoming a serial killer.
The film Psycho by Alfred hitchcock was based on a same name novel by Robert Bloch.I think the character of Norman Bates had a lot in common with Edward Theodore Gein. Firstly, both of them have a unhappy childhood- Gein's mum have a unhappy marriage but the could not get divorce because of their religious belief. So she often abuse her children and forbids them to make friends with others or leave the farm area just like Norman spending most of his life in the motel and consider it as his permanent home. Secondly, they are transvestites-Gein's created a women suit by using female skins instead of the suit Norman dress up like his mother when his "mother" side takeover. Thirdly, they lived alone with their mother- After Gein's brother death, he lived alone with his mother similar to Norman he was grown up in a single family. At last, I think both of them have a shy and effeminate characteristic probably they live their life as a hermit for too long and lost the socializing skill.
